Privacy & cookies

The short version

We measure how this website is used, ourselves, on our own server. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no third party of any kind. Nothing we record is sold, shared or sent anywhere else. If you'd rather we didn't measure your visit at all, choose No thanks on the notice at the bottom of the page and we won't.

Who we are

ABM Software Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales, company number 06807769. For anything on this page, write to webmaster@abmsoftware.co.uk.

What we record, and why

Every visit

When a page is served we record the page address, the time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the site you arrived from if there was one. We do this to understand which pages are useful, where visitors come from, and whether the site is working - our legitimate interest in running and improving it. It sets no cookie and needs no consent.

Only if you agree

If you accept the cookie notice, we also store a first-party cookie (abm_vid, a random identifier, valid for a year) so we can tell a returning visitor from a new one. With it we record which links and buttons you click, how far down a page you scroll, how long you stay on a page, and whether you started or sent the contact form. That's it - nothing you type into the form is recorded as activity, only whether you reached each step.

If you send an enquiry

The contact form emails us your name, phone number, email address, message and IP address so we can reply. That's a step taken at your request. Those emails live in our mailbox, not in the website's records.

What we never do

  • Store passwords, card details or anything you type into the form as activity data.
  • Keep authentication tokens or personal details that appear in a web address - those are stripped before anything is written down.
  • Use advertising, retargeting or cross-site cookies.
  • Sell, rent or share what we record with anybody.

How long we keep it

Activity records are deleted automatically after 90 days. That's not a promise we make and forget: the site runs the deletion itself, on a schedule, and nothing older than that survives.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to us measuring your visits at all. Email webmaster@abmsoftware.co.uk and we'll deal with it. You can also change your mind at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which brings the notice back.
